Vision

The Association strives to unite, develop and empower all people in the library and information field into an organisation that provides dynamic leadership, and that transforms, develops and supports library and information services for all the people of Tanzania.

Mission

To advocate for high-quality, user-centred library and information services; to ensure that all communities in Tanzania, regardless of literacy level, have fair access to information; and to advance the welfare of library professionals and institutions.

Objectives

1. Unite librarians through conferences and meetings that address the concerns of the sector.
2. Regulation and management: follow legislation affecting libraries and promote the regulatory frameworks needed for library services to grow.
3. Encouragement: foster the establishment and improvement of library services throughout Tanzania.
4. Information: gather and share information through publications that benefit members and advance the Association's goals.
5. Improve standards of librarianship and the standing of the library profession nationally.
6. Research: promote and encourage bibliographical study and research.
